Return to Sleepy Hollow #3

Return to Sleepy Hollow was published by IDW Publishing beginning in 2018 as a licensed expansion of the narrative established in the Headless Horseman folklore and the subsequent animated features. This series was conceived to revisit the iconic characters of Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones, situating them within a darker, atmospheric graphic novel medium that leans into the gothic mystery of the original Washington Irving source material.

The art and narrative approach for this series sought to balance traditional folk-horror aesthetics with a contemporary comic book sensibility, focusing on moody, high-contrast illustrations that emphasize the eerie nature of the woods and the spectral presence of the Horseman. Critics and fans of the series noted the visual consistency and the expansion of the lore, which served to bridge the gap between classic literature and modern dark fantasy storytelling.
