Rip Hunter ... Time Master #27

Rip Hunter... Time Master #27 was published by DC Comics in 1964 as part of a series that brought science fiction adventure to the Silver Age of comics. Created by writer Jack Miller and artist Ruben Moreira, the series centered on the titular time traveler, reflecting the era's fascination with space exploration, quantum physics, and the theoretical possibilities of moving through history. The stories were designed to offer a blend of historical reenactment and futuristic gadgetry, often involving Rip and his team navigating temporal paradoxes.

The visual identity of the series, including the cover work on issue #27, leaned into the bold, kinetic aesthetic common to DC's mid-century sci-fi titles. Ruben Moreira’s work provided a grounded, adventurous look that complemented the high-concept scripts. While Rip Hunter was a staple of the DC experimental line, the series was ultimately a modest performer for the publisher, eventually leading to the character transitioning into a recurring supporting figure in later properties like the Justice League and the time-travel focused narratives of the modern DC Universe.
