Robert en Bertrand #72

Robert en Bertrand was a long-running and highly influential Flemish comic series created by Willy Vandersteen in 1972. The series originated as a historical adventure strip set in the 19th century, following the exploits of two likable vagabonds, Robert and Bertrand, who traveled through the countryside. Vandersteen designed the series to capture a nostalgic, picaresque spirit, blending lighthearted humor with historical settings that resonated deeply with readers of the era.

The 72nd issue is part of the extensive back catalog produced by Studio Vandersteen, which maintained the series' signature artistic style after the initial creation. Like many issues in the collection, number 72 reflects the studio’s disciplined approach to continuity, storytelling, and the clear-line aesthetic that defined Flemish comics in the late 20th century. While the series eventually concluded its original run, these issues remain significant artifacts of European comic book history and the legacy of one of its most prolific creators.
