Secret Wars II #3

Secret Wars II #3 was published by Marvel Comics in 1985 as part of a sprawling crossover event that brought the omnipotent entity known as the Beyonder to Earth. This limited series served as a direct sequel to the original 1984 Secret Wars, aiming to capitalize on the success of the first event by exploring the Beyonder's naive and increasingly destructive attempt to experience human desire and mortality through his interactions with various Marvel heroes and villains.

The issue was written by Jim Shooter, who served as Marvel's editor-in-chief at the time and was the primary architect behind the event's complex narrative structure. The interior art was provided by Al Milgrom, whose style defined the look of the series. While the original Secret Wars was noted for its commercial success and clear toy-tie-in objective, the sequel received a more polarized critical reception, with many observers noting that the narrative felt more disjointed and experimental as it attempted to weave the Beyonder's philosophical journey into the continuity of existing ongoing monthly titles.
