Sergio Aragonés Groo #8

Groo the Wanderer #8 was published in 1985 during the character's transition from Marvel's Epic Comics imprint to his long-standing home at Epic. Created by Sergio Aragonés and writer Mark Evanier, the series emerged as a satirical take on the sword-and-sorcery genre, subverting tropes by featuring a protagonist whose immense physical skill is constantly undermined by his profound lack of intelligence and tendency to cause unintentional destruction.

The design and artistic style reflect Aragonés's signature approach, characterized by frantic, fluid line work and intricate background gags that reward attentive readers. This issue, like its predecessors, leans heavily into the slapstick comedy and social commentary that established Groo as a cult classic. It was received warmly by the comic community, cementing Aragonés's status as a master of visual storytelling and securing the series a loyal readership that lasted for decades.
