Sergio Aragonés Groo #6

Groo the Wanderer, created by the legendary cartoonist Sergio Aragonés, first appeared in comic form in the early 1980s as a satirical take on the sword-and-sorcery genre. Issue #6 was published during the character's initial run at Pacific Comics, a publisher that helped pioneer the creator-owned comic book movement. The series was designed to subvert typical fantasy tropes by focusing on a well-meaning but hopelessly dim-witted barbarian whose attempts to help always result in catastrophic destruction.

The art style is quintessential Aragonés, defined by his signature fluid, energetic linework and a mastery of pantomime storytelling that he perfected during his long tenure at Mad Magazine. Issue #6 highlights his ability to weave complex, chaotic battle scenes with subtle sight gags hidden in the background details. At the time of its release, the book was well-received by critics and readers alike for its gentle mockery of pop-culture archetypes and the genuine warmth hidden beneath the slapstick humor.
