Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #104

Groo the Wanderer issue 104 was published during the Image Comics run of the long-running satirical sword-and-sorcery series. Created by Sergio Aragonés and writer Mark Evanier in the early 1980s, the series follows an incredibly skilled but dim-witted barbarian who consistently causes unintended destruction wherever he travels. By the time this issue was released in the mid-1990s, the character had already established a cult following for its unique combination of slapstick humor, intricate background gags, and sharp social commentary.

The visual identity of the book is defined entirely by Sergio Aragonés, one of the most prolific and respected cartoonists in the industry. Known for his rapid, expressive style and his signature 'silent' margin cartoons in Mad Magazine, Aragonés utilized his background in pantomime to ensure that Groo's physical comedy translated clearly to the page. This issue maintains the established format of the series, where the art serves as the primary engine for the narrative humor, often contrasting Groo's immense physical power with his complete lack of intellectual depth.
