Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #112

Groo the Wanderer issue 112 was published in 1993 during the title's long-running tenure at Image Comics. Created by the legendary cartoonist Sergio Aragonés and writer Mark Evanier, the series chronicles the adventures of a perpetually confused but lethal barbarian. By the early 1990s, Groo had already established itself as a staple of satirical fantasy, known for its slapstick humor and the iconic, fluid line work of Aragonés, who has drawn the entire series almost entirely without a script.

The design of the series centers on the juxtaposition of high-fantasy tropes with mundane incompetence. In this specific era of the title, the creative team continued to refine the character’s interactions with his loyal, albeit intelligent, dog, Rufferto, and his cynical companion, Arba. Readers and critics consistently received the series as a masterclass in visual storytelling, praising Aragonés for his ability to convey complex comedic timing through wordless expressions and chaotic, densely populated battle scenes.
