Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer #115

Groo the Wanderer issue 115 was published in 1993 during the title's long-running tenure at Image Comics. Created by cartoonist Sergio Aragonés and writer Mark Evanier, the series follows the misadventures of a dim-witted but incredibly lethal barbarian who is constantly trailed by his loyal dog, Rufferto. This specific issue captures the hallmark humor of the series, which rose to prominence in the 1980s for its satirical take on sword-and-sorcery tropes and its consistent, intricate visual storytelling.

The design and artistic direction of the series are defined by the unique, kinetic style of Sergio Aragonés, who is renowned for his ability to convey complex narrative humor without the need for excessive dialogue. His work on Groo was praised for its technical precision and the clever integration of marginal cartoons that added depth to the main narrative. The series has been lauded by critics for decades as a masterclass in comic timing and remains a touchstone of independent creator-owned publishing.
