Where it came from
Shangri-La Frontier #24 is part of the ongoing manga adaptation of the web novel series written by Katarina and illustrated by Ryosuke Fuji. The series, which began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2020, revolves around Sunraku, a gamer who specializes in defeating low-quality, 'trash' video games and decides to challenge a top-tier VR game. This particular volume continues the narrative arc following the protagonist's immersive experiences in an expansive fantasy virtual reality world.
The art style, spearheaded by Ryosuke Fuji, is widely praised for its dynamic portrayal of game mechanics and action sequences. Fuji draws inspiration from classic shonen tropes while integrating modern gaming aesthetics, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional manga fans and the gaming community. Since its debut, the series has received positive critical reception for its energetic pacing and world-building, leading to a successful anime adaptation and sustained popularity within the seinen and shonen demographics.
