Shaolin #1

Shaolin #1, published in 1993, emerged during the independent comic book boom of the early nineties. It was produced by the short-lived but ambitious publisher Entity Comics, a company that sought to capitalize on the rising popularity of martial arts cinema and supernatural action themes in serialized comic format.

The creative direction leaned into a gritty, action-oriented aesthetic that mirrored the stylistic trends of the era, emphasizing dynamic page layouts and bold character designs. While the series did not achieve the mainstream longevity of major publishers, it remains a distinct artifact of the nineties direct-market era, reflecting a period when small presses experimented heavily with genre-blending narratives.
