Silent Night, Deadly Night: Dark Winter #2

Silent Night, Deadly Night: Dark Winter was released in 2006 by Fangoria Comics as a direct sequel to the controversial 1984 slasher film. The series was designed to expand the franchise lore, specifically focusing on the legacy of the infamous killer Billy Chapman. Published during a period when horror film properties were frequently being adapted into expanded comic book narratives, the project aimed to capture the dark, exploitation-style aesthetic of the original movie for a modern comic book audience.

The creative team, including writer Nunzio DeFilippis and artist Georges Jeanty, sought to translate the slasher genre's tension onto the page while maintaining the bleak atmosphere associated with the film series. The series received attention from horror enthusiasts and collectors of cult film memorabilia due to the notorious reputation of the original movie, which had been pulled from theaters in the 1980s due to public backlash. Issue #2 serves to deepen the psychological horror of the arc, balancing the graphic nature of the slasher tropes with the narrative expectations of the horror comic genre.
