Souten no Ken #2

Souten no Ken, also known as Fist of the Blue Sky, serves as a prequel to the legendary manga series Fist of the North Star. Created by Tetsuo Hara, the series debuted in Weekly Comic Bunch in 2001, shifting the narrative focus to Kenshiro Kasumi, the 62nd successor of Hokuto Shinken, in 1930s Shanghai. The second collected volume continues the early expansion of Kenshiro's struggle against the criminal underworld, blending historical atmosphere with the high-octane martial arts action that defined Hara’s signature style.

The visual design of this volume remains consistent with Hara's late-career evolution, characterized by heavy ink work, realistic facial proportions, and an emphasis on period-appropriate attire compared to the post-apocalyptic setting of his previous work. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by fans of the original series who were eager to explore the lineage of the Hokuto Shinken school, solidifying its place as a significant entry in the broader Fist of the North Star franchise.
