Space Family Robinson #58

Space Family Robinson, published by Gold Key Comics, debuted in 1962 and was famously inspired by the premise of Swiss Family Robinson transposed into a futuristic, space-faring setting. Issue number 58, released in the mid-1970s, arrived during the later years of the series' long run, which had become a staple of the science fiction comic landscape for its focus on family dynamics and extraterrestrial exploration rather than purely military conflict.

The art and stories of this period were produced by a rotating collective of Gold Key contributors, with the title frequently featuring iconic, painted-style covers that were a hallmark of the publisher's aesthetic. While the series eventually saw its influence eclipsed by the rising popularity of other space operas, issue 58 remains a notable example of the era's mid-century optimism and the specific visual character of Gold Key's output, which sought to appeal to a younger audience through imaginative, episodic world-building.
