Spider-Woman #28

Spider-Woman #28, released in 1980 during the tail end of the character's original solo series, represents a pivotal moment in Jessica Drew's narrative history. Published by Marvel Comics, this issue captures a period where the character moved away from her initial espionage-based origins toward a more traditional urban superhero template, reflecting the creative efforts to stabilize her place within the wider Marvel Universe during a time of fluctuating popularity.

The cover and interior work reflect the house style of the era, showcasing the collaborative efforts of the editorial and creative teams tasked with managing Jessica Drew's complex backstory. While the series struggled to find a long-term commercial foothold compared to its contemporaries, issues from this period are valued by collectors for their role in fleshing out the supporting cast and psychological depth of a character who would eventually become a cornerstone of the Avengers lineup.
