Spider-Woman #25

Spider-Woman #25 was published in 1980 during a transitional period for the character Jessica Drew. As part of the ongoing Marvel Comics series, this issue contributed to the expansion of Marvel's supernatural and detective-noir subgenres within the broader superhero landscape. The narrative served to flesh out the complex, often tragic backstory of the protagonist as she navigated a world increasingly populated by both street-level criminals and paranormal threats.

The visual storytelling in this era of the series was defined by the house style of Marvel artists who sought to balance the character's athletic agility with the atmospheric tension characteristic of late Bronze Age comics. The creative teams of this period focused on establishing Jessica Drew as a distinct entity from the flagship Spider-Man, aiming to ground her in a more adult, mystery-oriented context. The issue reflects the collective efforts of writers and illustrators tasked with maintaining character consistency while steering the series through fluctuating editorial directions.
