Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron #½

Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron #½ was released in 1998 as a promotional tie-in, distributed primarily through Wizard Magazine. It was designed to bridge the gap between existing story arcs, serving as a prelude to the wider X-Wing series. The issue was created to reward loyal readers of the publication while deepening the lore surrounding Wedge Antilles and his elite starfighter unit, capitalizing on the immense popularity of the Dark Horse Comics Star Wars line during the late 1990s.

The comic was written by Michael A. Stackpole, a central architect of the X-Wing Expanded Universe, and featured art by various contributors consistent with the style of the ongoing Rogue Squadron monthly series. The design emphasized the tactical, character-driven military science fiction tone that defined Stackpole’s novels. It was received as a sought-after collectible by fans of the series, serving as a functional narrative bridge that maintained the continuity of the Rogue Squadron comic run.
