Super Manga Blast! #21

Super Manga Blast! was a monthly anthology magazine published by CPM Manga beginning in the late 1990s, designed to introduce English-speaking audiences to a diverse array of Japanese manga titles. As the American manga market began to expand beyond niche demographics, this publication acted as a bridge, serializing various genres including fantasy, sci-fi, and comedy to gauge reader interest in longer graphic novel formats.

Issue number 21 arrived during the magazine's middle tenure, reflecting the editorial direction of the era which focused on high-energy, action-oriented stories intended to capture the attention of adolescent readers. While the specific artistic styles varied across the anthology, the publication was generally praised for its role in democratizing access to lesser-known Japanese creators, although the eventual contraction of the print manga market led to the magazine's discontinuation in the mid-2000s.
