Super Psychic Policeman Chojo #3

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo was a manga series serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump during the late 1980s, created by mangaka Shuichi Shigeno. Emerging during a period when the magazine was heavily experimenting with supernatural and gag-comedy tropes, the series followed the eccentric and telepathic protagonist, Chojo, as he navigated crime-fighting with unconventional psychic methods. The series was designed to blend traditional detective mystery elements with the absurd, high-energy humor that defined the era's shonen genre.

Issue #3 arrived at a critical juncture for the series, as it sought to solidify its identity among the powerhouse titles appearing in the magazine at the time. While Shuichi Shigeno would later achieve immense global fame for his work on Initial D, this earlier effort was characterized by its rapid-fire pacing and playful character designs. The series is often remembered today by collectors as a niche but notable bridge between Shigeno’s early comedic stylistic roots and his later shift toward the highly technical, realistic action-oriented storytelling that became his trademark.
