Super-Villain Team-Up #10

Super-Villain Team-Up #10, released in 1977, arrived during a period of creative experimentation at Marvel Comics. The series was designed to showcase the complex dynamic between Doctor Doom and Namor the Sub-Mariner, two of the publisher's most prominent anti-heroes. By the time this issue was published, the title had shifted focus significantly, serving as a vehicle for the high-fantasy, political intrigue narratives spearheaded by writer Bill Mantlo.

The issue features cover art by Jack Kirby, whose bold, kinetic style remained a cornerstone of the Marvel aesthetic even as the publisher transitioned through different editorial eras. The interior art, provided by Bob Hall and Don Perlin, emphasizes the dramatic, operatic tone common to mid-70s Marvel storytelling. At the time of its release, the issue was received as part of a niche but dedicated corner of the Marvel Universe, appealing to readers who favored the internal conflicts of the publisher’s more morally gray characters.
