Where it came from
Takase-san wa Doru-Katsu ni Muchū Desu, or 'Takase-san is Obsessed with Idol Activities,' is a manga series authored by Takiya Shino that explores the subculture of idol fandom. The second volume continues the narrative focus on the protagonist's enthusiastic, often humorous commitment to her favorite idols, reflecting the broader 'doru-katsu' phenomenon in Japanese pop culture where fans dedicate significant time and resources to supporting performers.
The series is characterized by its lighthearted comedic tone and character-driven illustrations, which lean into the tropes of otaku life. Takiya Shino utilizes a clean, expressive art style that emphasizes the character's internal monologues and exaggerated reactions to idol-related developments. As a niche slice-of-life title, it serves as a grounded look at the lifestyle of dedicated fans, finding its audience among readers who identify with the specific joys and frustrations of idol obsession.
