The Amazing Spider-Man #176

The Amazing Spider-Man #176, released in January 1978, emerged during a transitional period for Marvel's flagship title. Written by Len Wein with cover art and interior pencils by Ross Andru, this issue continues the high-stakes narrative arcs that characterized the mid-1970s run. The story focuses on Spider-Man's confrontation with the Green Goblin, specifically Harry Osborn, as the creative team worked to reconcile legacy villainy with the evolving personal struggles of Peter Parker.

Ross Andru's tenure on the title is noted for a kinetic, grounded approach that defined the look of the character throughout the mid-to-late 1970s. His collaboration with inkers like Mike Esposito helped establish a clean, consistent visual language for the series. At the time of its release, the issue was received as a standard but essential chapter in the ongoing serialized soap opera of Spider-Man’s life, reflecting the publisher's focus on maintaining long-form continuity for a dedicated readership.
