The Amazing Spider-Man #177

Published by Marvel Comics in February 1978, The Amazing Spider-Man #177 arrived during the Bronze Age of comics. This issue is notable for featuring the Green Goblin, specifically the Harry Osborn iteration, and continues the serialized high-stakes narrative typical of Len Wein's tenure as writer. At this point in the series, the book was firmly established as Marvel's flagship title, navigating the transition from the psychedelic experimentation of the late sixties to more grounded, character-driven storytelling.

The cover art, illustrated by Ross Andru with inks by Frank Giacoia, captures the dynamic, kinetic style that defined the title throughout the mid-seventies. Andru's approach prioritized clear, dramatic staging, which helped maintain the accessibility of the series for both long-term readers and new fans. The issue was received as a standard but solid entry in the broader Spider-Man mythos, contributing to the consistent monthly world-building that kept the character at the forefront of the medium during the late 1970s.
