The Amazing Spider-Man #178

The Amazing Spider-Man #178 was published in March 1978 during a transitional period for Marvel's flagship title. The story, written by Len Wein with interior art by Ross Andru, continues the narrative threads of the era as Spider-Man navigates personal turmoil alongside his superhero responsibilities. This issue serves as a notable example of the mid-Bronze Age style, characterized by Andru’s dynamic action sequences and a grounding of the character in his quintessential New York City setting.

The issue features a classic confrontation involving the Green Goblin, building upon the deep-seated lore surrounding the Osborn legacy. The cover, illustrated by Gil Kane, captures the high-stakes tension of the period. At the time of its release, the comic was received as a standard but solid entry in a long-running series, reflecting the creative sensibilities of editors who were balancing the character's legacy with the evolving demands of comic storytelling in the late 1970s.
