The Amazing Spider-Man #187

The Amazing Spider-Man issue 187, published by Marvel in December 1978, emerged during a transitional period for the title under the editorial guidance of Jim Shooter. This issue features the work of writer Marv Wolfman and artist Keith Pollard, who were tasked with maintaining the momentum of the series following the departure of long-term creative teams. It serves as a middle chapter in the broader 'Spider-Man vs. the Frightful Four' story arc, focusing on the character's struggle against established adversaries while navigating his personal life.

Keith Pollard’s artistic contribution to this issue reflects the house style of Marvel Comics in the late 1970s, prioritizing dynamic action sequences and expressive character work. The narrative design reflects the industry standard of the era, where complex multi-issue plotlines were utilized to retain readers in an increasingly competitive market. Upon its release, the issue was received as a functional installment in the ongoing Spider-Man mythos, valued by collectors primarily for its contribution to the continuity of the Silver and Bronze Age Marvel canon.
