The Amazing Spider-Man #420

The Amazing Spider-Man #420 was published by Marvel Comics in January 1997. It serves as part of the long-running series that chronicles the adventures of Peter Parker, released during a transitional period for the title as Marvel navigated the aftermath of the controversial Clone Saga. The issue was written by Tom DeFalco with interior art provided by Joe Bennett and inks by Bud LaRosa, maintaining the classic visual house style of late-nineties mainstream superhero comics.

The narrative follows Spider-Man as he deals with the complex emotional fallout of his personal life, a hallmark of DeFalco’s tenure on the character. Designed to fit within the broader continuity of the Spider-Man line, the issue highlights the tension between Parker’s civilian obligations and his heroic responsibilities. While it does not represent a major milestone in publication history, it remains a snapshot of the creative direction favored by Marvel’s editorial team during this era, prioritizing character-driven drama alongside traditional serialized action.
