The Amazing Spider-Man #88

The Amazing Spider-Man #88 was published in September 1970 during the foundational Silver Age of Marvel Comics. This issue serves as part of a significant narrative arc featuring the return of Dr. Octopus and continues the character development of Peter Parker as he navigates the complexities of his academic life and his superhero responsibilities. It stands as a representative example of the character-driven storytelling championed by Stan Lee during this era.

The interior artwork was provided by Gil Kane, who brought a dynamic, cinematic sensibility to the page, while the cover art was rendered by the iconic John Romita Sr. Romita's distinct style, characterized by his clean lines and humanistic approach to character design, helped define the visual language of Spider-Man throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s. The issue was received as a standard but high-quality installment of the series, reflecting the creative synergy between Marvel's editorial team and its stable of prolific illustrators.
