The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #25

The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #25 was published by Marvel Comics in 1991 as part of the ambitious 'Citizen Kang' crossover event. This narrative arc spanned four different annuals, each penned by writers tasked with integrating the time-traveling antagonist Kang the Conqueror into the lives of various heroes, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the Silver Surfer. The issue served as a pivotal chapter in expanding the complex continuity of the Marvel Universe during the early 1990s.

The story in this issue was written by Kurt Busiek and illustrated by Aaron Lopresti, who sought to blend classic superhero tropes with the intricate sci-fi elements defined by Kang’s historical schemes. The design and aesthetic reflected the bold, dynamic house style of Marvel at the time, prioritizing high-stakes action and character development within an oversized format. It was generally received as a competent tie-in that satisfied readers looking for a broader scope than standard monthly issues provided.
