The Books of Magic #75

The Books of Magic #75, published in 2000, serves as the final issue of the original Vertigo series created by Neil Gaiman. The title originated from the 1990 prestige miniseries that introduced Timothy Hunter, a young boy destined to become the world's most powerful magician. This final issue was written by Peter Gross and illustrated by Ryan Kelly, bringing the protracted coming-of-age journey of its protagonist to a definitive conclusion.

The creative direction of the series finale aimed to wrap up the complex narrative threads established during the title's decade-long run. By the time issue #75 was released, the series had evolved through the work of various writers, including John Ney Rieber and Peter Gross. The final installment was received as a contemplative end to a seminal work of 1990s dark fantasy, praised for maintaining the atmospheric, mystical tone that defined the Vertigo imprint during its formative years.
