The Books of Magic #73

Published in 2000 as part of the long-running Vertigo imprint series, The Books of Magic #73 serves as a later entry in the saga centered on Timothy Hunter, a young boy destined to become the world's most powerful magician. This issue arrived during the series' transition period following the departure of creator Neil Gaiman and early long-term writers, continuing the DC Comics tradition of exploring the darker, more introspective corners of the magical DC Universe.

The issue features artwork and narrative contributions consistent with the series' established gothic, urban fantasy aesthetic, which aimed to distinguish Vertigo titles from mainstream superhero fare. While the series as a whole is frequently lauded for its influence on the modern fantasy comic genre, individual issues from the later run—like number 73—are primarily appreciated by collectors for their role in maintaining the narrative continuity and the specific visual style that defined the late-nineties and early-millennium Vertigo brand.
