The Faraway Paladin Omnibus #1

The Faraway Paladin, originally known as Saihate no Paladin, began as a light novel series written by Kanata Yanagino and illustrated by Kususaga Rin. It debuted on the self-publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2015 before being picked up for physical publication by Overlap Bunko. The story follows Will, a human child raised by three undead figures in a desolate city, blending high-fantasy tropes with a contemplative exploration of morality and the burden of legacy.

The omnibus format was developed to consolidate the sprawling narrative of the light novels, providing a comprehensive collection of the early arcs for long-term readers. Kususaga Rin's character designs, characterized by soft linework and a melancholic color palette, were instrumental in establishing the series' distinct atmosphere. Upon its release, the work was well-received for its departure from standard power-fantasy conventions, earning praise for its patient world-building and philosophical depth.
