The Fury of Firestorm #41

Published by DC Comics in November 1985, The Fury of Firestorm #41 represents a pivotal chapter in the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths landscape of the DC Universe. Written by Gerry Conway, who shepherded the character for much of his tenure, the issue explores the complex duality of Ronnie Raymond and Professor Martin Stein. At this time, the series was navigating a shift toward more grounded, sociopolitical storytelling, reflecting the editorial efforts to redefine DC’s legacy characters during a period of significant transition.

The cover and interior art from this era are heavily associated with the work of Rafael Kayanan, whose dynamic style captured the kinetic, elemental energy of the character. The creative team aimed to balance the teenage struggles of Ronnie with the philosophical weight of Stein’s consciousness, a core theme that defined the title’s mid-80s run. The issue was well-regarded by readers of the period for maintaining the series' balance of high-stakes cosmic action and personal character drama during a time of major industry upheaval.
