The Fury of Firestorm #46

The Fury of Firestorm issue #46, published in April 1986, arrived during a transitional period for the character. By the mid-1980s, the title had moved beyond its origins as a Ronnie Raymond solo vehicle, incorporating the dual identity of Raymond and Mikhail Arkadin. This era of the series sought to ground the nuclear-powered protagonist in complex geopolitical narratives, reflecting the Cold War tensions that heavily influenced the writing of the time.

The issue features cover art by artist Joe Brozowski and writer Gerry Conway, who was instrumental in defining the character's voice for years. The design and narrative direction during this run were characterized by an attempt to elevate Firestorm from a traditional superhero to a global figure facing sophisticated moral dilemmas. While the series enjoyed a dedicated following, it is frequently cited by collectors for its distinct 1980s aesthetic and its place within the broader tapestry of DC Comics' post-Crisis continuity.
