The Green Lantern Corps #213

Published by DC Comics in 1987, The Green Lantern Corps issue 213 represents a significant turning point in the series' narrative arc. Written by Steve Englehart with artwork by Joe Staton and Bruce Patterson, the issue follows the fallout of the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' and explores the psychological toll on the Lanterns as they navigate a restructured universe. It is notably remembered for its focus on the character Guy Gardner, whose aggressive and volatile personality provided a sharp contrast to the more traditional heroism of Hal Jordan.

The creative team aimed to ground the interstellar spectacle of the Green Lantern mythos in character-driven drama, reflecting the industry-wide push during the mid-eighties toward more complex and flawed protagonists. Joe Staton’s illustrative style, characterized by clean lines and expressive character work, helped solidify the visual identity of the Corps during this era. While the issue served as a bridge between major cosmic events, it remains a point of interest for collectors tracking the evolution of Guy Gardner from a secondary character into a central, albeit polarizing, figure in DC lore.
