The Green Lantern Corps #209

The Green Lantern Corps #209, published in February 1987, emerged during a pivotal transitional era for DC Comics. Following the restructuring of the DC Universe after Crisis on Infinite Earths, the title sought to navigate the complex cosmic dynamics of a multiversal organization. This specific issue is notable for its exploration of the intergalactic police force's moral and political burdens, reflecting the darker, more introspective storytelling trends that began to permeate the comic industry in the mid-1980s.

The issue features cover art by Kevin Maguire, whose clean, expressive lines were becoming increasingly influential during this period. The narrative was crafted to deepen the mythology of the Corps, focusing on the character-driven drama of the lantern recruits rather than mere spectacle. While it remains a deep-cut selection for many modern readers, it is valued by historians of the medium for its role in maintaining the continuity and thematic gravity of the Green Lantern mythos during a decade of significant creative flux.
