The Green Lantern Corps #212

The Green Lantern Corps #212, released in 1987, emerged during a pivotal era for DC Comics as the publisher navigated the structural changes following the Crisis on Infinite Earths. This issue stands as a notable installment in the long-running series that expanded the mythos of the cosmic peacekeeping force, focusing on the team dynamics and the intergalactic conflicts inherent to the Lanterns' jurisdiction. The narrative tone of this period often balanced intricate science fiction world-building with the increasingly grounded character work that defined late 1980s superhero storytelling.

The creative direction for this period of the Green Lantern Corps saw contributions from writers and artists tasked with maintaining the legacy of the title while modernizing its aesthetic to suit the evolving tastes of the direct market. The visual style of this era leaned into the bold, illustrative traditions of contemporary comic book design, characterized by expressive panel layouts and a commitment to high-stakes space opera. Critics and readers of the time generally received the title as an essential companion to the core Green Lantern series, valuing it for its ability to flesh out the diverse and often obscure members of the extraterrestrial corps.
