The Incredible Hulk #124

Published in February 1970, The Incredible Hulk #124 was part of a transitional period for the character under Marvel Comics. The issue was written by Roy Thomas, who was instrumental in shaping the internal mythology of the Hulk during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This story reflects the era's focus on placing the Hulk in increasingly surreal and global conflicts, moving away from his domestic origins toward more cosmic or science-fiction-oriented threats.

The cover art and interior illustrations were provided by Herb Trimpe, a quintessential Hulk artist whose long tenure on the series defined the character’s visual identity for an entire generation. Trimpe was known for his grounded, muscular approach to the character’s anatomy and his ability to convey immense kinetic energy in panel layouts. While this specific issue is often viewed as a solid entry in the series' long run, it is frequently cited by collectors for its classic 1970s aesthetic and Trimpe’s signature heavy-handed, dramatic style.
