The Incredible Hulk #365

The Incredible Hulk #365 was published by Marvel Comics in early 1990 as part of the long-running series featuring the iconic green powerhouse. During this era of the series, writer Peter David was deep into his acclaimed, multi-year tenure that redefined Bruce Banner’s internal dynamics, pivoting the character away from a mindless beast toward a more nuanced, intelligent persona. This specific issue features art by Jeff Purves, whose kinetic and sometimes angular style captured the gritty tone of the 'Joe Fixit' iteration of the Hulk, which saw the character operating as a morally ambiguous enforcer in Las Vegas.

The narrative within this issue fits into the broader 'Hulk as a Las Vegas bouncer' arc, a period praised by critics for its psychological depth and departure from the traditional monster-on-the-loose tropes. The cover, featuring a tense moment involving the character’s dual identity, reflects the thematic focus on psychological conflict that defined David’s run. It remains a notable piece for collectors interested in this transitional phase of the series, representing a pivotal moment where the Hulk moved toward the layered, complex characterization that persists in modern comic lore.
