The Incredible Hulk #403

The Incredible Hulk issue #403, published by Marvel Comics in March 1993, belongs to the long-running series that chronicles the volatile existence of Bruce Banner. During this period, the title was written by Peter David, who is widely credited with redefining the character by exploring the psychological complexity of Banner’s multiple personas. This particular issue arrives during the era where the 'Professor' Hulk—a synthesis of Banner’s intelligence and the Hulk’s strength—was the primary manifestation, navigating a nuanced world of gray morality and shifting alliances.

The interior artwork for this issue was provided by Gary Frank, with ink work by Cam Smith, establishing a grounded and gritty aesthetic that moved away from purely bombastic superhero tropes. Frank’s style focused heavily on expressive character acting, which complemented David's narrative focus on the Hulk’s internal struggles. The creative team’s approach was well-received by readers of the early 1990s, who appreciated the series' pivot toward character-driven storytelling within the broader Marvel Universe.
