Where it came from
Published in July 1997, The Incredible Hulk #455 stands as a significant milestone in the long-running series, serving as the final issue written by Peter David. David's tenure on the title, which spanned over a decade, is widely credited with redefining the Hulk as a complex, psychologically layered character, moving beyond simple tropes to explore the duality of Bruce Banner and his manifestations.
The issue features artwork by Adam Kubert, whose dynamic and gritty illustrative style defined the visual identity of the Marvel Universe during the late 1990s. As the conclusion of the 'Homecoming' arc, the narrative focuses on the internal struggle for control between Banner and his alter egos, ultimately receiving praise from long-term readers for providing a thematic closure to David's extensive and influential run on the character.
