The Legion of Super-Heroes #288

The Legion of Super-Heroes #288 was published in June 1982 by DC Comics during a pivotal period for the team's long-running series. Written by Paul Levitz with artwork by Pat Broderick, this issue forms part of the 'Great Darkness Saga,' a celebrated multi-issue arc that many fans and historians consider the definitive Legion story of the 1980s. The narrative focuses on the growing threat of a mysterious, all-powerful dark force, shifting the tone of the series toward a more mature, epic scale.

The design of this era reflected a collaborative push to modernize the Legion’s massive roster and intricate continuity. Paul Levitz, serving as both writer and editor, utilized this run to weave together disparate plot threads from years of lore, while Pat Broderick's clean, structured style helped anchor the sprawling cosmic action. The issue was well-received by readers for its careful character development and its ability to raise the stakes of the interstellar drama without abandoning the core camaraderie that defined the team.
