The New Titans #86

Published in June 1992 by DC Comics, The New Titans #86 serves as a significant entry in the Titans mythos during the post-Crisis era. The issue was written by Marv Wolfman, the architect behind the series' most iconic runs, with interior art provided by Tom Grummett and Al Vey. It emerged during a transitional period for the title, following the high-stakes narrative developments of the 'Titans Hunt' storyline that reshaped the team's roster and internal dynamics.

The issue is particularly noted by collectors for its contribution to the evolving lore surrounding the character of Pantha and the team's ongoing struggle with the machinations of the Wildebeest Society. The creative team aimed to blend high-octane superhero action with the complex, soap-opera-style character development that defined the Wolfman-Grummett era. It is widely regarded as a representative example of 1990s DC team-book aesthetics, characterized by Grummett’s clean, expressive linework and the thematic intensity that persisted throughout Wolfman's long-standing tenure on the series.
