The New Titans #92

The New Titans #92, published in November 1992, arrived during a tumultuous period for DC Comics' flagship team book. Following the massive success of The New Teen Titans in the 1980s, the series was undergoing a narrative transition as the writers sought to evolve the characters into more complex roles. This issue is part of the 'Total Chaos' crossover event, which involved the Titans facing off against the Team Titans, a group of warriors from a bleak, future timeline created to stop the rise of Lord Chaos.

The visual identity of this era was heavily influenced by the dynamic, high-energy aesthetic prevalent in early 1990s superhero comics. Tom Grummett, a staple artist of the series known for his clean lines and expressive character work, contributed to the visual direction of this period. The issue serves as a functional piece of a larger serialized puzzle, reflecting the industry's shift toward interconnected 'event' storytelling that required readers to track multiple titles to follow the central plot threads.
