The Occult Files Of Dr. Spektor #24

Published by Gold Key Comics in 1976, The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #24 arrived during the twilight years of the series, which had begun in 1973. Created by writer Donald F. Glut and artist Jesse Santos, the title capitalized on the 1970s fascination with the supernatural and gothic horror. Dr. Adam Spektor served as a traditional monster-hunter archetype, though the series often blended pulp adventure with more esoteric, mystical themes characteristic of Gold Key's output at the time.

The creative direction for this series leaned heavily into the distinct, often moody illustrative style of Jesse Santos, who provided the definitive look for the character. By the time this issue was released, the comic was part of a broader shift in the medium where niche occult horror titles were beginning to face stiff competition from mainstream superhero publishers. It remains a notable example of the mid-1970s Gold Key catalog, appreciated by collectors for its specific aesthetic and its place in the history of independent-leaning horror comics.
