The Occult Files Of Dr. Spektor #25

Published by Gold Key Comics in 1976, The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #25 represents the latter half of a series that departed from the traditional superhero archetypes of the era. Created by writer Donald F. Glut and artist Dan Spiegle, the series focused on Adam Spektor, an investigator of the supernatural. The title was part of Gold Key’s effort to explore horror and mystery themes, drawing inspiration from the gothic tropes that were popular in seventies pulp fiction and cinema.

The character design and visual direction were heavily influenced by Dan Spiegle’s clean, expressive illustrative style, which sought to bring a cinematic quality to the paranormal encounters. While the series did not achieve the massive commercial reach of contemporary Marvel or DC titles, it garnered a dedicated following for its atmospheric tone and its willingness to weave folklore and myth into the comic format. This particular issue remains a noted entry for collectors interested in the unique output of independent-leaning publishers during the Bronze Age of comics.
