The Pink Panther #60

The Pink Panther comic series was published by Gold Key Comics beginning in the 1970s, serving as a spin-off from the successful animated shorts created by Friz Freleng and David DePatie. Issue number 60, released in the early 1980s, fits into the later tail end of this run, capturing the transition of the character from theatrical cinema to a staple of Saturday morning television. These comics were intended for a younger audience, translating the silent, slapstick antics of the panther into a panel-based format that relied on visual humor and kinetic energy.

The character design maintains the sleek, cool aesthetic established in the 1963 opening credits sequence, emphasizing the panther's elongated proportions and deadpan expressions. As an issue from the latter half of the series, this publication reflects the era's simplified art styles and episodic storytelling. While the series was widely distributed through newsstands and drugstores, it has since become a nostalgic touchstone for collectors interested in the intersection of mid-century animation and the bronze age of American comics.
