Where it came from
The Uncanny X-Men #368 was published by Marvel Comics in April 1999, serving as a pivotal installment during the long-running series' post-Onslaught era. The story arc, titled The Shattering, was written by Alan Davis and Fabian Nicieza with interior art by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer. This period was characterized by a push to refine the mutant team's roster and narrative stakes as the publisher moved toward the turn of the millennium.
The design of the issue features a dramatic cover by Alan Davis, which captures the high-stakes internal politics and team tensions central to the late nineties X-Men status quo. The issue was received by readers as a vital bridge in the lead-up to the larger editorial shifts that would follow in subsequent months, reflecting the collaborative effort of the creative team to maintain the series' prestige amidst a competitive comic book market.
