Where it came from
The Shiver of Christmas Town is a comic book limited series published by TOKYOPOP, designed to expand upon the lore of Tim Burton’s 1993 stop-motion classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Released in the mid-2000s, this series was part of a broader initiative to translate the aesthetic of the film into the manga format, utilizing a distinctive black-and-white art style that highlights the gothic, whimsical character designs originally conceived by Tim Burton.
The third issue continues the narrative arc following Jack Skellington as he navigates the overlapping holidays of Halloween and Christmas. The series was met with interest from fans of the film’s unique visual language, as the creative team aimed to maintain the integrity of Henry Selick’s visual direction while exploring new plot developments in the world of Halloweentown. It remains a notable entry for collectors who track the multimedia expansion of Burton's cinematic universe.
