Tiger, Tiger #1

Tiger, Tiger #1 emerged during the mid-2010s as a notable entry in the independent comics scene, characterized by its distinctively stylized art and atmospheric narrative. It was crafted as a creator-owned project, reflecting a growing movement of independent storytellers seeking to blend traditional sequential art with a more modern, cinematic visual language. The series aimed to subvert expectations of the pulp action genre, focusing on moody, character-driven tension rather than standard superhero archetypes.

The creative team behind the series prioritized a deliberate, high-contrast aesthetic that leaned into the medium's capacity for shadow and negative space. Upon its release, the debut issue was received favorably by critics and niche enthusiasts, who highlighted its visual consistency and the creators' ability to establish a compelling world in just a few pages. It remains a representative example of how limited-run independent books from this era utilized Kickstarter and direct market distributions to reach a dedicated, focused audience.
