Tintins oplevelser. Originalversionen fra "Le Petit Vingtieme" #2

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, published serially in Le Petit Vingtième between 1929 and 1930, marked the debut of Hergé’s iconic reporter. Created at the behest of Abbot Norbert Wallez, the editor of the Catholic newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle, the comic was intended as a piece of anti-Bolshevik propaganda for the youth supplement. The aesthetic was defined by a stark, linear style that differed significantly from Hergé's later, more polished work, reflecting the rapid pace of production required for weekly publication.

The second issue of this serial run continued the narrative of Tintin’s journey through the Soviet Union, capturing a raw, experimental phase of the character's development. While Hergé would later become critical of the technical simplicity of this early work, historians view it as a vital precursor to the ligne claire style. Its reception at the time was fueled by the political climate of interwar Belgium, establishing Tintin as a cultural phenomenon long before the series reached its international acclaim.
